Draft Minutes 4/4/03

Present at the meeting: May Gerstle, Shaheeda Pierce, Steve McDonald, Blake Trask, Nan Hammett, and Bonnie Meyer from Public Heath - Seattle & King County.

Minutes were accepted with corrections.

The Agenda was approved with modifications.

Symposium

A.        The April 26 symposium agenda was reviewed and amended. The agenda will be sent to Ecology.

B.         Tables were reviewed:

            0. Sign-in table

            1. Public Health: Healthy Gardening in contaminated soils.

            2. Ecology: Area maps and Vashon Area Reports.

            3. Garden Club - we are still waiting to hear if they are coming.

            4. Worm Bin - Ann Moses with Seattle Tilth will have worm bins and written

     information.

5. VIGA - Steve has repeatedly tried to contact VIGA, but there has been no

     response.

     Steve will contact John and Vicky at Judd Creek Nursery in search of a

                  composter.

            6. Stamets - Will include all his paperwork.

            7.  Green Lady (Marth) - Will include all paperwork.

            8. Sustainable Vashon - ask Rita is she would like it.

            9. Whistling Winds Farms - Steve will inquire to see if they want a table.

            10. Refreshments - Wax Orchards

                                            Bob's Bakery

            11. WA Toxics Coalition - will ask if they want a table.

Posters - Blake will poster all over town and will find Dan & May and others to help out.

               A student in Evergreen will poster in Olympia. Shaheeda will give to student.

               Shaheeda will distribute to Healthcare clients and advocates.

                Nan can distribute at schools.

Room set-up and 9 A.M.             Nan, May, Shaheeda will help sign up, Blake.

Report from Public Health - they are staying busy. New TSP Team Lead, Nicole Fus will be at the Symposium.

Process for approval of summary.

            How will we approve summaries of the study?

- 2nd study of Kissel - Wegner Study will be disseminating that.

- Shaheeda requests to May to forward Kissel study to all HMRC   members.

 

 

At the next meeting we will have a working session to develop a work plan for the remainder of the year.

                                    Sources of clean dirt/clean dirt vendors

                                    CME - Course for MD's (linked to handbook)

            Bonnie:            Nutritional information- needs to be gathered and disseminated
